DStv Installation and Repairs in Kempton Park

Mobile DStv installation, repairs and signal work for family homes, guesthouses and businesses in Kempton Park and Tembisa. We come to the property, so there is no shop to visit.

Planning a DStv installation in Kempton Park, or trying to get a dead signal back? OnspotElec is an authorised DStv installer and a mobile service: we travel out to family homes in Birchleigh, Glen Marais and Norkem Park, to guesthouses and offices around Bonaero Park, and to homes across Tembisa. There is no local branch involved; the technician comes to you.

What We Can Set Up or Fix Around Kempton Park

Most calls fall into one of a handful of jobs. If yours is not listed, describe it when you call and we will tell you honestly whether it is installer work or something DStv needs to sort out on your account.

  • New dish and decoder installs. A full DStv installation for a house that has never had satellite TV, or one where the old system is beyond saving.
  • Explora and Explora Ultra setups. Fitting a PVR decoder properly, including the Smart LNB that DStv recommends for Explora installations, through our Explora installation service.
  • Extra rooms and second decoders. Adding a TV point or linking decoders with XtraView so the main bedroom or lounge can watch something different.
  • Guesthouses and offices. Multi-room signal distribution for hospitality and business premises, covered on our commercial DStv page.
  • No signal and faults. Tracing E48-32 notifications, weak signal and intermittent picture break-up back to the cause.
  • Dish moves. Relocating and realigning a dish after building work or a roof repair.

Homes, Guesthouses and Airport-Area Businesses

A typical freestanding home on a suburban stand is usually the simplest case. The dish goes on a wall bracket or the roof, facing north-east with a clear view of the sky, and the cable runs to one or two TV points. The work mostly comes down to choosing a mounting spot that stays clear of trees and future building plans.

Guesthouses and small lodges close to OR Tambo International Airport are a different job. Each guest room that needs DStv has to be fed from the dish, and that usually means a planned distribution system rather than one LNB stretched across the building. DStv's own guidance says its Smart LNB is not generally suitable for commercial environments, so a hospitality setup is normally designed around the number of rooms and decoders involved. Our article on DStv for guesthouses and small businesses covers what to think about before you ask for a quote.

Offices, waiting rooms and staff canteens tend to want one or two screens running reliably during business hours. The priority there is a neat, safe cable route and a setup that staff can switch on without fiddling with settings.

DStv installation in Tembisa

Tembisa has dense housing, and many homes run their own dish. Space is tight, so the dish is often on a front wall, a boundary wall or a corner of the roof, close to the neighbours' structures.

Building work is a typical reason a dish here needs attention. When a room is added, a second storey goes up, or a neighbour extends towards your property, the dish can lose its view of the satellite or end up on a wall that is being knocked down. In that case the dish needs to be taken down, remounted somewhere with a clear line of sight and realigned. Our dish relocation service handles exactly that, and the blog post on moving a DStv dish explains what to plan for before the builders start.

Building or extending soon? Call 083 489 1322 before the wall comes down, so the dish can be removed carefully and moved to a spot that will still see the satellite once the new walls are up.

Signal Trouble You Are Likely to Run Into

None of these problems are unique to this part of Ekurhuleni, but they are worth knowing about if you live or run a business here.

  • Summer storm outages. Heavy rain weakens satellite signal. A short drop-out during the worst of a thunderstorm is normal; picture that stays off after the rain has passed points to a fault.
  • Dishes knocked off target. Roof repairs, solar panel installers working nearby, strong wind or a ladder leaned against the bracket can shift a dish just enough to lose signal.
  • Sun-damaged cable. Coaxial cable left exposed for years can crack and let water in, which slowly weakens the signal until it fails.
  • Blocked view of the sky. A growing tree or a new building on the north-east side of the dish will eventually cut the signal, however well it was aligned.

If you see the E48-32 notification, our no-signal assistance page lists a few safe checks to try from the ground first.

How Booking Works

Step 1

Call or send a quote request

Phone 083 489 1322 or use the quote request form. Lines are open around the clock, seven days a week.

Step 2

Describe the property and the problem

Tell us whether it is a house, a guesthouse or a business, how many TVs you want working and what the screen is showing.

Step 3

Agree a time

When we can get there comes down to where you are, how big the job is and which technicians are free. Emergency assistance is available.

Step 4

Work done and tested

The technician completes the job and checks signal on each TV point before leaving. Pricing is based on the actual work and equipment needed.

We also cover the neighbouring areas, including Edenvale, Benoni and Midrand.

Kempton Park DStv Questions

Yes, this is a common request. The setup depends on how many rooms need TV and whether each room needs its own decoder, so we assess the building and quote for the distribution equipment and cabling involved.

If the new structure blocks the dish's view of the sky or the wall it sits on is changing, the dish will need to be moved and realigned. Call before the building work starts so it can be planned.

DStv's voucher installations cover a set number of TV points, and extra cabling, travel or linked decoders are charged separately. A quote from us is based on what your property actually needs.

Yes. OnspotElec is open 24 hours and emergency assistance is available. Whether a technician can come out straight away depends on availability and the job, and we will tell you that on the call.
